Wednesday saw the visit of Portsmouth FC to Rivacre Park for a highly anticipated National league Cup fixture with the outcome, a coveted place in the last 16 of the competition. Portsmouth had travelled the day before and had prepared the correct way and were ready to go once the kick off came. The game started quickly and our boys did well to weather the storm. Once our boys settled they quickly got into their rhythm and started to knock the ball round with the quality that is expected of them.

The second half began with the score still 0-0 but the boys began the second half like they ended the first scoring an early goal from Vinnie to put them in front with a well deserved lead. By now the visitors were struggling to match us in every area of the pitch and a well worked team goal with Charlie having the final touch into the back of the net put us ahead 2-0. With 15 minutes to go,  concentration slipped and Portsmouth scored a well worked set piece to make it 2-1. With 10 minutes left on the clock, Josh broke through and rifled a well struck left footed shot to the keepers right to seal the win in a hard fought game.

Wednesday saw our Under 19s travel to Carlisle United FC, for a highly anticipated National Trophy last 16 fixture with the outcome, a coveted place in the last 8 of the competition.

The game was a very cagey affair. with not many chances in the first 45 minutes, with both teams trying to cancel each other out. In the second half the game was a lot more open with goals galore.

The final score at the end of normal time was 4-4. The boys showed massive amounts of character in extra time, where their hard work and levels of fitness really shone through. With 5 minutes to go Kyle scored from a beautifully executed free kick from just outside the Carlisle box to clinch the game for us. The other goals on the day were scored by Bobbie X3 and Cameron. The boys fully deserved their victory in one of the craziest, most entertaining games you will have ever seen.

They now await the draw for the Quarter Final to see their next opponents.
